The Vancouver Aquarium, and two critically endangered axolotls, star in a news poem about the aquarium’s new permanent axolotl exhibit. The poem is recited by Sam, an Education Staff Member at the Vancouver Aquarium.
The Vancouver Aquarium’s new permanent exhibit features cute, and critically endangered, axolotls!
In waters not far from Mexico City,
An axolotl just smiles like a child.
This aquarium’s axolotls will not know how pretty,
Since none of them came from the wild.
These amphibians simply do not mature.
They grow back spinal cords, brains, and heart tissue.
A new permanent exhibit means you’ll see them for sure,
But they’re endangered – and that is the issue.
If you’re at the Vancouver Aquarium today,
You’re in luck, they will be there, as you learn and play.
