Vancouver athlete Kyle Wills took a break from training for the World’s Toughest Row to recite this news poem about the ocean rowing event and his journey. He is rowing to raise $250 000 for the Brain Tumor Foundation of Canada, and the Hospital for Sick Children (Toronto SickKids).
Vancouver athlete to row across the Atlantic Ocean, alone, for brain cancer research
For my best friend whose life has been touched by cancer,
and with time spent in the gym building muscle.
I’ll row 5000 km from Spain to Antigua,
and sleep in two-hour shifts so I can hustle.
For the Brain Tumor Foundation of Canada, and
all those following in Vancouver and London.
Not to mention the folks at Toronto SickKids.
I’ll raise one quarter mill’ with no dry run.
Testing mental strength above all else.
Treating water by desalination.
All to cross the Atlantic Ocean, alone.
With new rowing skills as a foundation.
The World’s Toughest Row will start December 12th.
It should be two months in duration.
Given the preparation, the planning and hard work.
The row, itself, will feel like a vacation.
